Visit the Pertini–Voltolina House Museum, just steps from the Trevi Fountain, and step into a surprising chapter of Italian history.
The Pertini–Voltolina House Museum is the apartment where Sandro Pertini and Carla Voltolina lived from 1978 onward, a place that still preserves the spirit of one of the most beloved couples in the history of the Italian Republic. Within these rooms, President Pertini passed away in 1990, followed by his wife Carla in 2005.
Today, visitors can explore an extraordinary, untouched world: clothing, furnishings, documents, photographs, books, and works of art, alongside deeply personal belongings that reveal the President’s everyday life. Among them are his famous collection of one hundred pipes, including gifts from Enzo Bearzot and Luciano Lama.
After more than twenty years of silence and closure, the house reopened to the public in 2025, transforming into a place of memory, dialogue, and encounter. It is the first private residence of a President of the Italian Republic open to visitors, offering a unique opportunity to experience Italian history through the intimate and authentic life of Sandro Pertini.
