Salone del Mobile | Creativity in Motion: my Highlights from Milan

Share this:

Every year, the Salone del Mobile lights up the city of Milan with energy, creativity, and enthusiasm. Unlike past editions, this year the rain decided to head elsewhere, allowing us to peacefully explore the 18 districts involved in the Fuori Salone. Perhaps there were a few too many events, with the risk of missing the truly important ones. To find your way without getting lost, just follow the guidance of Interni magazine, brilliantly directed by Gilda Bojardi.

CRE-ACTION is the title of the major exhibition-event curated by Interni, a showcase of over 30 installations spread across various locations in Milan. I chose for you the University of Milan on Via Festa del Perdono and the Brera Botanical Garden.

At the University of Milan, the press conference was presented by my colleague Monica Maggioni and among the many guests was Mayor Beppe Sala.

In the lively setting of the Brera Botanical Garden, two striking installations stood out, drawing considerable attention from visitors and media alike.

Also worth noting was the always-reliable TRIENNALE MILANO. In addition to its permanent DESIGN MUSEUM and a captivating exhibition dedicated to ETTORE SOTTSASS, two lesser-known but compelling initiatives offered fresh perspectives on contemporary design.

Let me point out a new area near Milano Centrale Station, buzzing with fresh design proposals: DROPCITY is a recently inaugurated permanent cultural space on Via Sammartini in Milan, where 18 former railway tunnels have been repurposed for exhibitions.

Among the many proposals, I found the chair and table by a young talent, GIOTTO PAGANI, particularly innovative. I wouldn’t lose sight of him. You can check out his work on his Instagram profile.

From April 7 to 13, 2025, ALCOVA MILANO brought new energy to the vibrant Varedo area with a multi-site edition set across four extraordinary locations: Villa Borsani, Villa Bagatti Valsecchi, the former SNIA factory, and the charming Serre Pasino.

These are just a few of the highlights from a week rich in creativity and innovation. Until next year!
